Street Chic

This street chic trio turned it all out for fashion week in three completely different looks.  They all have their own style, but all look equally great for dashing to and from the shows around town in the warm weather.

Awfully Thankful

Well if you know anything about me, you are aware that I am a workaholic.  No, really.  It often gets in the way of social events and holiday engagements.  With being stuck in town and back to work tomorrow, today comes as no exception.  I slept until noon and then leisurely got dressed to celebrate this joyous holiday.  With no dinner reservations and little family around these parts to reunite with, David and I drove the streets in a new Mercedes rent-a-car due to a maintenance issue with the Porsche looking for a lunch spot that was open.  We were not so lucky with most establishments so by default ended up at Grandy's "restaurant" in an old shopping strip in Dallas.  The place was totally not fancy which is putting it nicely, but I'll let you be the judge of that.  After scarfing down a feast of fried okra and buttered dinner rolls, we headed to the movie to see My Week With Marilyn.  I didn't know much about her, but I felt glamorous snuggled up in the theater in my Christian Dior wrap.  The movie left me wanting to know more about this legendary woman.  Call me crazy, but I felt like our lives were similar minus the pills and talent!  Back home now and cuddling up with the pup and David.  Hope all of you have yourselves a glorious holiday weekend and find reason to be thankful - I know I have two.

Hungry For Fashion

Welcome to the State Fair of Texas
We went to the State Fair of Texas this year on the last day in hopes for a feast of fried food and a glimmer of fashion.  I'm not even going to show you what I stuffed in my mouth (food-wise!), but the picture of the pigs gives you an idea of how I was feeling afterwards.  Everyone was eating; even the baby goats were nibbling on their mom's hair for nourishment.  I could barely handle it.  The rides looked as frightening as the choice of wardrobe on the people milling around.  I thought perhaps it was all a joke this year, and I was on Candid Camera but to no avail.  We took our annual photo in a photo booth, and I'm positive I was the only one wearing Chanel.  David thought he was casual in jeans for goodness sakes, but they were at least Marni.

The brightly colored slide with its sniffling children at least jarred my memory of a more sophisticated time which was one of our last shows for fashion week Nanette Lepore.  Flirty and fun is the best way to describe this collection.  It was a runway of candy colors and lots of movement.  The dresses and skirts flounced about with pleats in a-line shapes.  The colors were intense in yellow, pink, orange, and blue, and the patterns were bold stripes and florals - all the right ingredients for a blossoming spring and summer fun in the sun.

Flashback or not, hopefully I can make myself see the beauty in everything good or questionable, and I think we can weather the fair again next year, but for now, it's time for a diet.
